Stuff in Concord CA is among more than 2000 comic book shops around the world
celebrating Free Comic Book Day (FCBD), the largest event in the comic book
industry on Saturday, May 6th: Each year, participating stores give
over six million comic books to more than one million shop visitors,
introducing some and reacquainting others to the wonders of comics.
“I founded Free Comic Book Day on the
simple principle that a free comic book can be a gateway to a life-long love of
reading. Seeing my idea spread to 2300 comic shops in more than 60 countries
makes Free Comic Book Day a great export of American Pop Culture and one of the
best worldwide family events ever," said Joe Field, owner of Flying Colors
Comics.
"FCBD is a fun event for everyone. Here in Concord, it's huge party, with costumed characters, a kids' costume contest, refreshments and thousands of free comics! Our goal here is make sure everyone visiting our store finds a comic book they'll enjoy so much they'll want to come back week after week and month after month to find more comics to buy and read. Seeing people of all ages—children, teens, and adults—sharing the love for comics is heart-warming. We want to welcome everyone to Flying Colors for FCBD on May 6th--- especially those who have never read a comic book--- because comics are such a unique form of entertainment and we want to share them with everyone!"
