EAST of WEST Artist Nick Dragotta @ Flying Colors 4/24

The Retailing Brigade at Flying Colors Comics is pleased to announce we'll be hosting artist NICK DRAGOTTA on Wednesday April 24 from 5pm-8pm.

Nick is the artist on the new hit series from Image Comics, EAST of WEST, a sci-fi western, written by Jonathan Hickman. That creative team is familiar to those who follow Marvel's FF series.

Nick has a great body of work on such books as Marvel's X-Statix Presents: Deadgirl, X-Men First Class, The Age of the Sentry, Captain America, Fantastic Four and many others.

Nick will be at Flying Colors on the first day of release for the second issue of EAST of WEST. In addition, Flying Colors will have a limited number copies of EAST of WEST #1 (and the Ghost Variant for #1, shown here).

Wednesday is also New Releases Day at Flying Colors, so we invite you to the Nick Dragotta signing and check out all the great new stuff coming in that day, too. Some refreshments will also be served.

Surprise Event--- Saturday April 13

There's been so much talk recently about the content of DC Comics' BATMAN & RED ROBIN #19! It looks like there may be a new Robin in town...

So we got the (last minute) idea to invite back to Flying Colors our friend and artist MICK GRAY who is a key component of the BATMAN & ROBIN creative team.

Join us here at Flying Colors this Saturday April 13 at 1pm to get your copies of BATMAN & RED ROBIN #19 signed by inker/artist Mick Gray! We'll be talking about what's going on in the world of BATMAN, what's in store for this series and just having a good time talking comics. Hey, that's what we do here!

This event will also be a great time to visit Flying Colors to see our selection of specially priced hardcover and softcover graphic novels! We recently scored a terrific deal from Marvel Comics on a number of hardcover books that we're able to sell to you at as much as 75% off their cover prices!

FCBD Guest Announcement #2: Flying Colors Welcomes Top Cow's Matt Hawkins

 
Flying Colors is happy to announce another of our Free Comic Book Day guests! 

Writer, physicist, social media maven and all around swell guy, MATT HAWKINS has published over 1,000 comic books in his 20 year career at Image Comics and Top Cow. 

He's  created and/or written many including Think Tank, Aphrodite IX, The Test, Alibi, Necromancer and Lady Pendragon. 

Despite producing TV series, feature films and video games, Matt still considers himself to be a comic book dude.

Flying Colors to host writer James Robinson on Free Comic Book Day

The entire Retailing Brigade here at Flying Colors Comics is proud to announce our first guest for our Free Comic Book Day event on Saturday May 4, 2013.

James Robinson is the writer of the current DC New 52 hit series, Earth 2.  James also wrote the critically acclaimed recent mini-series The Shade, featuring the popular supporting character from his Eisner Award nominated series Starman.
James also has a new mini-series coming from Image Comics called The Saviors.

"I'm thrilled to be signing at Flying Colors, the birthplace of FCBD," said James. To which we echo that we are thrilled to host him as our guest on Free Comic Book Day.

Madefire Story Night @ Flying Colors, Thur 3/7 @ 6PM

Flying Colors Comics is excited to announce our next FlyCo Fans Pizza Night will be Thursday March 7 at 6PM. We'll be serving pizza, beer & sodas in our ongoing effort to build a bigger and better Bay Area comics community--- one slice at a time!

We're excited to announce this event will feature the ultra-talented crew from Madefire, setting the digital comics world on fire with their Madefire app for the iPhone and iPad. 

We’ll have iPads loaded up with all of Madefire's titles during the pizza night so you can see for yourself the fantastic things Madefire does with its Motion Books. Bring your friends, and appetite for food, drink and stories.

Will Eisner Week at Flying Colors

Will Eisner (1917 –  2005) is widely regarded as the father of the American graphic novel. 

He was a pioneer in the field of comic books, as an artist, writer & studio head. He was the creator The Spirit, a character that was in newspaper strip, comics, TV and movies. 

Flying Colors joins in the celebration of "Will Eisner Week" March 1-10 in two ways: 

1) Every Eisner graphic novel is 20% off from March 1-10. This is great chance for those who haven't yet experienced Eisner's creative force. 

2) We are also asking anyone who would like to participate to come into Flying Colors and let us know you would like to go on video with either a tribute to Will Eisner or thoughts about what graphic novels mean to you. 

We also encourage everyone to get into the Spirit of "Will Eisner Week" by reading a graphic novel.
