Open Hours Update

Flying Colors will be CLOSED Sunday September 13.

We will be open Monday 11-6 and hope to be open everyday from 11-6 going forward.
Thank you so much for your support and patience as we ramp back up to full operations.  

Good News! Flying Colors reopens Wed Sept 9

Good news!
We are planning to be OPEN again on Wednesday September 9 from 11AM-6PM.

We will have the last two weeks of NEW comics. And then we'll have more new comics coming soon. Our hours will be limited at first, so please bear with us as we get back up to speed... Stay tuned here for the latest info.

Flying Colors is temporarily CLOSED

Due to testing positive for COVID, I've had to close Flying Colors for the time being.

For the next week or so (who knows?), Flying Colors will not be open for business. In order to protect our Flying Colors staff and our legions of FlyCo Faithful, we need to step back and CLOSE the shop.  

We will not be able to fill orders of any kind right now, including in-store, curbside, Shopify or mail order.

Our awesome staff will all be getting tested... and when those tests come back negative--- meaning our FlyCo Retailing Brigade is healthy-- we'll re-open the shop, likely with more limited hours when we restart.

We hope you'll all be patient as we deal with this crisis. 

It disappoints me to not be open for our loyal fans. But we will be back, hopefully soon...and hopefully stronger than ever.

Yes! Flying Colors is OPEN!

Every time the governor or a health official makes an announcement about what businesses are allowed to be open and which ones need to be closed,  we get get lots of phone calls wondering if we're open for shoppers to come inside and browse.

Flying Colors and most other retail shops were allowed to re-open June 3 after the COVID shutdown.

We've been OPEN every day since... and if we all play it safe, wear masks, wash our hands a lot, and stay home when we're sick, we will remain OPEN! Let's do it!

* We have stepped up our cleaning and sanitizing protocols.
* There's hand sanitizer at four different stations around the shop.
* Masks are required for everyone above the age of two.
* We are limiting how many people can be in the shop at any given time, but so far that hasn't been an issue.
* Yes! We are still offering Curbside Comic Service for those not wanting to come inside.


* We'd love to have you come visit us and buy some of the comics and other cool stuff we've been receiving for the last several weeks.

In short:
We're OPEN!! Daily from 11AM-6PM. We have New Comics!
And as always...
We've Got Your Cool Stuff Right Here in Flying Colors!

Curbside or Come Inside: The choice is yours!

Yes, WE ARE OPEN every day from 11AM-6PM.
(Everyone over the age of two years old entering Flying Colors is required to wear a mask covering your nose and mouth.)

And YES! We still offer Curbside Comic Service!

Here's how it works:

1) Let us know what you want!

2) Make a list and email it to coolstuff@flyingcolorscomics.com.
Please include your phone number in your email.

3) Our Flying Colors Retailing Brigade will call you to let you know what we have for you. We'll even make suggestions or two. We'll then tally up your order and get payment from you.
4) Then drive up to Flying Colors during our open hours daily from 11AM-6PM. When you're here in our parking lot, give us a call at 925-825-5410 and we'll run your order out to you!

RIP, Super Max

A tribute to Super Max!

Back in February, one of our very special FlyCo Faithful passed away.

Max was a special young man, with special needs. Flying Colors was his Fortress of Solitude, the place where he found what he loved... and the place where he loved to be.

Max was here for signings. His birthday was always near Free Comic Book Day, so it was like our FCBD party was a part of his birthday party! As a student at Ygnacio Valley High School, Max arranged his schedule around our open hours here at Flying Colors. He was a graduation speaker at YV for his graduation in 2019.

Max created his own superheroes. He lived vicariously through the ones he found on the racks here at Flying Colors.

Today I was visited by Max's mom (seen in the photo here). She was here to thank us for creating a community that meant so much to her son.

I thanked her for validating our mission here-- to Bring Happiness through Comics.
Max was especially happy when he was here.

Now that he's made the journey across the Rainbow Bridge, we know Super Max will be with us always.

Flying Colors to re-OPEN Wednesday June 3

Finally... Some Good News!
After 78 long days, Flying Colors Comics will be re-OPENing Wednesday June 3.

Due to the local curfews, we will be open daily from 11AM-6PM.

A few guidelines we are implementing to maintain safety for our FlyCo Faithful and our FlyCo Retailing Brigade:

* Masks are required to be worn by all staff and customers in the store.
   We will have a limited number of disposable masks available, but we do ask you to bring your own!
* We will be limiting the customers in the store to maintain some physical distancing.
* We may also limit how long customers can remain in the shop.

* We will monitor the number of people in the store and set up a line outside as necessary.

* All children must be accompanied by an adult.  We maintain the right to be able to limit that to one child per adult during peak periods.

* We will still offer our nearly world-famous CURBSIDE COMIC SERVICE for those who would prefer to not come inside quite yet.

* While we will once again be taking cash payments, we much prefer credit card payments.

* Our cleaning and sanitizing protocols will be stepped up to insure a great environment for everyone!

One word of caution:
Our orders for all comics and other products are much leaner due to our sales being down more than 80% for these last two and half months.

We HIGHLY encourage you to become a FlyCo Sub Club member by giving us a list of the titles and series you know you want month in and month out. We also HIGHLY encourage your orders from our store copy of the Diamond Previews catalog that lists thousands of new comics, graphic novels, toys, games and more!

We're excited to get back to the business of building this community one happy comic book fan at a time! We look forward to welcoming you back into our shop very soon!
