MAY 6^th 2017 IS FREE COMIC BOOK DAY AT FLYING COLORS

World's Largest Comic Book Event Founded by Bay Area Comic Shop Owner

Flying Colors Comics & Other Cool Stuff in Concord CA is among more than 2000 comic book shops around the world celebrating Free Comic Book Day (FCBD), the largest event in the comic book industry on Saturday, May 6^th: Each year, participating stores give over six million comic books to more than one million shop visitors, introducing some and reacquainting others to the wonders of comics.

“I founded Free Comic Book Day on the simple principle that a free comic book can be a gateway to a life-long love of reading. Seeing my idea spread to 2300 comic shops in more than 60 countries makes Free Comic Book Day a great export of American Pop Culture and one of the best worldwide family events ever," said Joe Field, owner of Flying Colors Comics.

"FCBD is a fun event for everyone. Here in Concord, it's huge party, with costumed characters, a kids' costume contest, refreshments and thousands of free comics! Our goal here is make sure everyone visiting our store finds a comic book they'll enjoy so much they'll want to come back week after week and month after month to find more comics to buy and read. Seeing people of all ages—children, teens, and adults—sharing the love for comics is heart-warming. We want to welcome everyone to Flying Colors for FCBD on May 6th--- especially those who have never read a comic book--- because comics are such a unique form of entertainment and we want to share them with everyone!"

ABOUT FREE COMIC BOOK DAY—Celebrating its 16^th year, Free Comic Book Day is the comic book specialty market’s annual event with participating comic book shops around the world giving away comic books absolutely free to anyone who comes into their comic shops. The event is always the first Saturday in May and is the perfect gateway to introduce everyone  to the worlds of wonder coming out every week at local comic book shops.
