Hellboy Day Approacheth!

March 2014 marks the twentieth anniversary of Mike Mignola’s career-defining release of Hellboy: Seed of Destruction #1. After the character’s somewhat humble beginnings as an eight-page feature in Dark Horse’s San Diego Comic Con Comics special, Seed of Destruction would begin the long life of the beloved “beast of the apocalypse.”

To mark the 20th anniversary, Dark Horse Comics has declared Saturday March 22 to be "Hellboy Day" at finer comic shops all over the world---and that includes right here at Flying Colors Comics & Other Cool Stuff! 

In addition to the newly released HELLBOY 20th ANNIVERSARY hardcover, on Saturday we'll also be giving away a FREE sampler of some Hellboy comics featuring two classic Mignola tales: “The Ghoul” and “Another Day at The Office,” as well as two all-new stories by Mignola, Fabio Moon, and R. Sikoryak!

13th Annual Free Comic Book Day coming on May 3!

FREE Comic Book Day is coming!

Be here at Flying Colors on Saturday May 3 for the 13th annual FCBD. It's our biggest event of the year--- it's also the largest annual comic book related event on Planet Earth!

We're happy to have two special guests for our event on May 3:

• TED NAIFEH is the writer/artist/creator of the Eisner-nominated series COURTNEY CRUMRIN, published by Oni Press. He has also worked on the Oni press series POLLY & HER PIRATES, and illustrated the GOOD NEIGHBORS trilogy of graphic novels written by Holly Black (published by Scholastic).


About COURTNEY CRUMRIN:

Courtney is an odd little girl who doesn't quite fit in. When she is shipped off to her uncle's, she must adjust to a whole new school in a neighborhood she isn't entirely comfortable with.  Things quickly take a turn for the better, as she meets the strange and interesting individuals that live in and around her uncle's house. Soon it's clear that she's better off hanging with the Night Things than she is with the stuck-up kids at her school. It's adolescent angst vs. scary spooks, adding up to excellent entertainment.


• EVAN STANLEY is an illustrator for Archie Comics' popular SONIC THE HEDGEHOG series. She is also known for her fan series "Ghosts of the Future" on DeviantArt.com.

SONIC THE HEDGEHOG is among our most popular titles for younger readers, so we're thrilled to have Evan here for FCBD.
